KBS and JTBC reported a shocking image on the 13th.

According to a simulation provided by Greenpeace, a typhoon that hits the Korean peninsula in 2030 will flood major coastal cities like Busan and Incheon.

The simulation is generated according to an article published by Nature Communications about the rising sea-level and coastal flooding.

The simulation shows that Incheon Airport will be flooded, as well as the Parliament building in Seoul. Hae Woon Dae and a majority of Busan will be flooded, while the west coast of the peninsula will be hit the most severely. It's been estimated that over 3.3 Million people will be displaced due to the catastrophe.

As the Monsoon season continues over 50 days, Korean people are beginning to feel the effects of climate change "to the skin."

Experts are urging for a plan to reduce emission rate to 0 by 2050.

MBC finally dropped their first teaser for the Refund Sisters.

On the 15th, youtube channel "hang out with Yoo" uploaded a video titled "환불원정대 (trans: Refund Sisters) Coming Soon~"

The clip shows the four queens walking into a dimly lit restaurant. The camera moves to capture each one of them enter, and once they all reach the counter a full shot of the four overwhelms the screen.

Star producer Kim Tae Ho is being praised amongst fans for making Hyori's passing remark become a reality.

Fans are excited to see them air on television. Some English comments read:

NunReacts on Youtube, now with 340K Subscribers, gives the most energetic, theatrical, and in depth reviews of Korean music.

He has a obscure demeanor. He is wearing a nun costume with sun glasses on, so you cannot see his face. But you can tell, just seconds into the video, that he is very enthusiastic of the music.

Despite his theatrical attitude and quircky look, his reviews incorporate literature, film, and reflections on culture and times. In this video, the nun is reacting to Lee Hi's latest single 'HOLO.'

He's freaking out every other measure. But he always shares what gets him so excited. In the span of this 15 minute video he mentions Ernest Hemingway, Forest Gump, and a general reading of our times while reviewing the song.

Nun started off his youtube career by giving reviews on Korean rappers. Rappers like Swings and Justhis have given him props for understanding their lyrics on a quintessential level.

Fans of Nun are commenting how his reviews are rich of cultural understanding and in depth knowledge of a wide range of topics. He was invited to Korea to hold interviews with rappers, and each and every rapper he met showed their appreciation for his knowledgeable reviews.

Lee Min Ho's management has declared war against internet trolls.

MYM Management put out a statement that they are compiling a data base on commenters who circulate content and comments with malicious intent against Lee Min Ho.

The management company is in partnership with Liwu Law Group to make the case, and both groups have made it clear that they intend to bring justice to those who continuously hurt Lee with false rumors and personal attacks.

The Ministry of Interior and Safety announced on August 4th that there has been 629 families impacted by the flood this year. Amidst such disastrous times, these K-POP celebrities stepped up to make donations toward relief efforts.

On August 11th the Korea Disaster Relief Association revealed that IU has made a donation of ₩100M to aid the victims of the flood this year. She is known to be a generous donor, as in May when she made a ₩10M donation towards COVID19 relief funds.

Suzy has also made a donation of ₩100M to the Korea Disaster Relief Association. In addition, all proceeds from her beauty book "Obsession with Suzy" are to be used towards providing sanitary products for low-income young women in Korea.

Han Ji Min donated ₩50M as well through the Korea Disaster Relief Association. In march she donated 3000 packages of PPE for health care workers in Daegu to aid efforts to fight COVID19.

BoYoung and SeoJoon are casted as husband and wife in the upcoming movie 'Concrete Utopia.'

The movie is to take place in a fictional reality where Seoul is destroyed by an earthquake. The plot unravels as survivors gather at the only building standing - 'The Palace Apartments.'

The film is to be based on a webtoon series called 'Happy Neighbors' by Kim Soong Nyoong.

The main cast is Lee ByungHyun, Park Bo Young, and Park Seojoon.

Byunghyun is to play the role of 'YungTak' who takes on the role of a charismatic community leader for the makeshift community. SeoJoon is to play 'MinSung,' a regular Joe who who becomes YungTak's right hand man. BoYoung is to play 'MyungHwa,' a nurse that proves to be invaluable in trying times. MinSung and MyungHwa are a married couple.

'Concrete Utopia' is to come to theaters in 2021.

Smoking weed in Korea comes with a big risk, and public opinion around it is overtly negative. You could face up to 5 years in prison for possession or usage of marijuana. There's a rapper who is trying to change this, and he is coming soon to the infamous rap survival show "Show Me The Money."

His latest album "Detox" has a very clear message and that is "I smoke weed and I love it." Even the cover art is a pile of marijuana nugs.

Not only is he open in his activism(?) through music, but he also headed a national petition to legalize marijuana. The petition was signed by nearly 14K people.

The public is interested in seeing what he would say on TV, and what kind of issues he would instigate. Though opinion on him varies, Bill Stax is unwavering in his dedication towards legalization.

Sex in a sensitive topic in Korea.

It is a taboo to speak of sex in public, and schools don't give sufficient sex education. Naturally, teens and young adults don't get a chance to learn about sex in an open and healthy environment.

The rising R&B star BIBI is trying to change this.

BIBI released her latest single 'cigarette and condom' on 8/6 in partnership with Dingo. She talks about having a pack of cigarettes and condom in her bag, and she says she's trying to normalize carrying condoms for women.

Her previous songs reflect her honest and unapologetic attitude towards sex as well.

Now that she has the platform to reach a bigger audience, BIBI says she wants to be responsible of her songs and raise sexual awareness. In this video, BIBI goes to a clinic to receive proper training.

She then invites a group of 20 year olds to talk about sex. Though they are shy at first, soon they loosen up and ask questions. BIBI, once again, is unabashedly honest.

At a time where a lot of us are experiencing various levels of isolation, the song comes as great comfort. Lee recently signed a deal with Jay Park's AOMG.

2. Crush - End of a Day

The R&B sensation Crush recently made an appearance on 'Begin Again,' the Korean TV show where artists travel the country to hold concerts for different people.

In this video, Crush is singing at en empty Bus Terminal. The song is 'End of a day,' a song written by the late singer / song writer and Idol Jonghyun.

The Camera captures night shift workers at the Terminal, and narration recites a poem for those who feel over worked and exhausted.

Crush serenades us with a beautiful voice. Beware of tears for the soft of heart.

3. Hwasa, DPR Live - I'm Bad

Mamamoo Hwasa and DPR Live came together to give us a smooth banger.

The video starts with Hwasa in her studio. She sings about a frustrating day, telling her audience that she, too, is "bad."

When DPR Live appears in the second verse the screen splits in two. In his rap, DPR Live tells Hwasa to cheer up. After a little bit of flirtation, he tells her that he, too, is "bad."

The genius singer / song writer DEAN has been gone from the scene for quite some time now. His latest hit 'instagram' is still mentioned and covered amongst many artists. But what has he been up to himself?

DEAN's artist collective you.will.knovv released a single called "Breath" featuring DEAN, Rad Museum, and Mokyo. The song is far from what you'd expect from the main stream K-POP industry. Over the calm and minimalistic instrumental, the R&B artists take turn to sing quietly about happiness that transcends 'things we can see.'

The video is a line of light that moves through out the whole video.

DEAN and his collective you.will.knovv have been consistent with a futuristic / transcendentalist approach to their work.

In the teaser for 'Breath,' the whole collective is seen meditating under a structure that resembles a UFO.

In the end of DEAN's last music video 'Sometimes i hear Howlin' in my head,' DEAN appears with half of his body as a machine with computer graphics.

The top comment on this video reads "I feel like Dean knows something we don't" and it seems as if he's sharing what he knows only with his posse.

A distinct feature of K-Pop is it's conservative attitude towards sex. This also reflects the Korean culture where it's considered 'rude' to speak extensively on the topic.

BIBI is raising objection towards this sentiment. She's been consistently creating music that goes against this current, and her latest single 'cigarette and condom' is a direct response to the music industry that makes sex a taboo.

Dingo released the making process of the song where Bibi is constantly met with concerns of how people would receive the lyrics. She is, however, unwavering in her decision. She explains that it'd be better for the culture to be able to speak openly about sex and protection than to keep it in the dark.

The music video takes place in a room designed to look girly and childish. Her costume matches this aesthetic, making the viewer believe it's a typical young girl in the video. This is when BIBI starts singing about sex and protection, completely shattering the frame that K-POP and Korean culture imposes on girls her age.

BIBI has been constantly proving herself as a talented song writer and performer. As seen in the comment section, her fans are mostly international. Now that Dingo, a major online platform for upcoming artists, has featured BIBI, she might have a better chance of reaching a larger audience.

However, it seems that her progressive attitude is too much for the industry. While her song is released as 'cigarette and condom' on youtube, streaming platforms spelled the song as 'cigarette and con them.'

Burberry released a new monogram and the world's trendiest stars are joining the campaign.

Nafla and Loopy, both known for their exceptional taste and execution of style, uploaded photos of themselves draped in Burberry.

The hiphop duo was invited to perform at the Burberry monogram launching party in Seoul last year, and it seems the brand and the rappers will continue their partnership.

Bibi is signed to Feel Ghood Music under Tiger JK. She has a distinct pop r&b sound characterized by her clear and enticing voice. She's been getting traction amongst fans both locally and internationally. She is soon to release a explicit single with Dingo called 'Cigarette & Condom.'

2. Katie

Katie surprised the world with her single 'Remember' in 2018. She always delivers artistically stunning visuals, and her 2020 come back doesn't sell short of her reputation. Most of her songs are in English, making them approachable for fans world wide.

3. Devita

Devia does it all, from classic R&B to City Pop. She's signed to Jay Park's AOMG. Her latest visuals feature her in futuristic settings, and it seems this is the aesthetic that has been inspiring her.

4. Sogumm

Sogumm made an appearance to the pubic when she won the show 'Sign Here.' She's characterized by her unusual enunciation and husky voice. She may seem obscure at first, but once you get hooked into her groove you'll be stunned by her originality.

5. Chai (이수정)

Chai is signed to Antenna Music. This Chicago native made her move to Korea to pursue a music career. Her smooth and rich vocals are enough to put the listeners on ease. She also has a youtube channel full of quirky humor, and I'm a personal fan of her page.

'The World of the Married' Director Mo Wan Il disclosed the story behind Han So Hee's casting.

Mo had an interview with the fashion magazine Bazaar, and shared how the newly risen super star Han So Hee got her role.

"I mean she was pretty. She was simply out of this world. It was undeniable." He says.

and continues, "Yeo Da Gyung is a character with an overwhelming presence. I wanted to make sure the audience would see her face at the end of the 1st episode and think, 'she's trouble.'"

Mo previously stated that the cast was undecided besides the main lead Kim Hee Ae at the planning stage of the show.

With millions of different content pouring onto our feed each day, it seems every brand is trying to grab our attention by being more loud, more flamboyant, and over all more stimulating.

But here is a brand that speaks to us ever softly - appealing to memories that we seem to have forgotten.

The online clothing brand ODG has launched a campaign on youtube titled "you were once a kid." In each episode ODG invites an artist to spend time with young children.

The conversations they have are funny, emotional, and quite often philosophical. The content of the videos are focused solely on the interactions between the artist and children. Though they are wearing pieces from the brand, ODG is mentioned not once in the conversations.

We seem to have forgotten what it's like to be a child. We forget how much children feel and think, and we often address them as being lesser than who we are. But this series reminds us of how invaluable a child's mind is.

In this episode in particular, children were invited to write a poem on a given topic, and a rapper turns these poems into a song. The topic: 'Loneliness and Glamour'

The result is surprising. Ha-rang (8) draws upon a metaphor of a flying bird who may seem free, but feels lonely while flying alone. Minseo (12) writes about shiny things that don't last and ends her poem with the metaphor of a peacock who opens his wings but closes them soon after.

The children never fail to give refreshing perspectives on an array of questions that the artists pose. In a internet filled with noise and lousy advertisements, ODG seems to be giving us something that's real.

Blackface has once again come to the fore in Korea.

Blackface is a shameful part of world history that should never be repeated. But in Korea, putting on makeup to appear racially Black is a topic of public debate.

It all started with a group of high school students who decided to enact a famous meme, 'the Coffin Dance,' for their graduation photo.

Students of Eui Jung Boo High School are known for taking comedic graduation photos in elaborate costumes. The students would choose celebrities, memes, or any famous image to impersonate - a lot like the Halloween tradition. Eui Jung Boo High School Student Body's official fb page released this year's graduation photos on 8/3, which included 'The Coffin Boys' in the bundle.

Anyone aware of the history of Blackface would be appalled by this photo. Clearly, standards of cultural sensitivity are different in Korea.

For readers who might be unfamiliar with Blackface: Blackface is a form of theatrical make-up used predominantly in the 19th & 20th century to perform caricatures of Black people. This contributed to spreading racial stereotypes of Black people as simple-minded, lazy, comical, hypersexual, and overall less-than, as such images were what entertained the audience who were predominantly, if not 100%, White.

Experts say the thrill of such a performance comes from undermining the "Other" as to feel superior - a sentiment that scratched the backs of Whites during the Antebellum period when abolitionists had started to gain force.

Since Black people did not have any independent representation, the images perpetuated by the Blackface performers were the extent of how Black people were perceived. These images would land on the psyche of White people to continue in their belief of superiority and land on the psyche of Black people to grow in self-degradation.

Blackface has become a taboo in Western cultures as the practice is now recognized as problematic. Such was due to activists who tirelessly pointed out the effects, though efforts continue even today as the legacy of Blackface continues.

'The Coffin Boys' have become a catalyst for heated debate. On one side, people are saying this is a racist depiction of Black people as it continues in the tradition of Blackface. On the other, people say this is a harmless parody of a meme, and to apply standards of the West in the context of modern Korea is a stretch.

The Ghanaian Korean Celebrity Sam Okyere joined the conversation, pouring gas onto the wildfire. On 8/6 Okyere posted a photo of the 'Coffin Boys' and stated his frustration.

The Korean public didn't take this well. Most comments revolve around how he is 'overreacting,' and that he has no right to criticize Korean education. Further, they are pointing out that Okeyre's post might be detrimental for the high school students as he is putting their faces on blast on his platform.

His use of the hashtag #teakpop is also being questioned. #teakpop is used for rumor or gossip within the kpop industry - usually to criticize its practices. Those who are against Okeyre point out that he is blowing the event out of proportion by connecting the students, unrelated to kpop, with the global kpop audience.

The comments are not gentle. They go as far as to say "Go back to your country, no one is stopping you" or "Stop letting him make money in our country." There are also comments on the blatant racist attacks on Asian people in America that went unchecked, pointing out how Okeyre remained silent during those incidents.

Okyere deleted his post the next day. On a new post he apologizes in Korean, how he didn't intend to jeopardize the students, and how he didn't mean to offend the public. He acknowledges his posting could've triggered people and promises to be a 'better' Sam Okyere moving forward.

The sentiment of the general public, as seen in top comments and postings, is outwardly critical of Okeyre. They find it offensive that Western standards of cultural sensitivity should be forced upon them when Korea has a different cultural and historical context.

Okeyre was cornered even further when Benjamin Aidoo, the person filmed in the original meme, made a post showing support for the students - congratulating their graduation.

Debates surrounding the use of Blackface in Korea is no where close to being over. It seems a practice deemed so problematic in one continent should be considered the same in another, especially when it took decades of activism to eradicate the problem. But some urge that this incident should not be judged according to Western standards, where Black enslavement remains a deep scar. They say it should be seen as a cultural exchange between Korea and Ghana, independent from the atrocities committed by Europeans. The question of intent is also a major player. If the Coffin Boys didn't have the intention to degrade Black people, should they be called out for being racist?

Whether or not the Coffin Boys should be seen as racist has yet to reach a consensus, but the responses serve as a thermometer to gauge the wide spectrum of cultural sensitivity. The concern is, however, whether this practice will persist - now that everyone knows the history of Blackface and its potential to be offensive.

UPDATE: A group of Gong-Joo Highschool students re-created the meme once again, with black make up on, and tagged Sam Okyere on the photo.

Even though he had to be boo-ed off stage, Sam Okyere's contribution to the conversation of cultural sensitivity in Korea had been invaluable. If you are in support of his message, sending him a DM of encouragement might be a nice gesture as he is probably feeling extremely disheartened.

The queens assembled to write history.

After SSAK3's success, Lee Hyori mentioned that she would like to form a team with strong femme power popstars for another debut. Now that SSAK3 has reached its end, the plan is finally coming to fruition.

Summer is already full bloom all around the world. Monsoon season is hitting us hard in Seoul but we're getting prepared for the heat to swallow us whole once the rain is gone.

The K-pop industry always comes through with bops to dance and fend off the heat to in the summer time, so we decided to make a list with some of those songs.

1. Zico - Summer Hate ft. Rain

As you can tell from the title, this isn't your average "omg I love summer!" song. Zico is straight up complaining about the heat, and the music video creates a childish setting to complete this sentiment.

2. Crush - OHIO

OHIO is an upbeat song that your body will react to before you know it. This irresistible groove will get you moving and you'll forget all about the heat, at least while the song is on.

3. Jessi - NUNU NANA

Jessi just made a come back full of swagger. This song is a straight banger. #nununanachallenge is trending, so might as well give it a go!

4. Rocket Punch - Juicy

Rocket Punch dropped their third mini album "Blue Punch" and Juicy is the title song. This bubbly beat will refresh your spirit in just seconds. Even their M/V is full of summer themes!

5. (G)I-DLE - DUMDi DUMDi

DUMDi DUMDi has a heavy Afro beat driving the song, and the young idols are showing their power moves in both dance and vocals. When the heat is dragging you down, play this song to get up and get going!

SM entertainment and JYP entertainment are to join hands to pioneer the world's first online concert brand. Fans are excited to see what would come about from the collaboration of the two entertainment giants.

The brand is called 'Beyond Live' and the management is to be called 'Beyond Live Corporation' or BLC.

Beyond Live was previously SM's own concert series that launched in April in collaboration with Naver.

The two conglomorates say "There is to be a synergy between SM's content producing skills, Naver's technology, and JYP's global network and creativity."

SM and JYP have ambitions to grow 'Beyond Live' into a international online concert brand. They are to employ Augmented Reality (AR) technology coupled with multi-view technology to have open communication with the fans. Content and technology are coming together to create unprecedented experiences.

SM and JYP's first collaboration is to be the 'Beyond Live - TWICE : World in A Day' airing on Naver starting 8/9 3pm KST. JYP's CEO/Producer Park Jin Young himself is to produce the concert.

It's been reported that the singer/actor Im Seul Ong was involved in a car accident.

According to Star News, Im Seul Ong hit a pedestrian late at night in Seoul on 8/1 when it was raining.

His car hit a pedestrian who was crossing the road illegally, and reports show that the accident killed the pedestrian. Im Seul Ong reported to the police immediately after the accident and was released after questioning.

There is yet to be an official statement from Im's management company Jellyfish Entertainment.

Hypotemp is on the production of the track. The track is characterized by its subtlety. The minimalistic approach to the composition allows the singer to discover multiple avenues with his cadence and rhythm. Hypotemp is also the music producer of the idol group XENEX.

As promised, (G)I-DLE released their latest single "DUMDi DUMDi" on 8/3.

The music video is western inspired, with a story line that resembles the hateful 8. The video begins with these words:

Park Seo Joon is proving to be true to his character from Itaewon Class.

The Hope Bridge foundation disclosed that Park donated a sum of 100M₩ to the flood victim relief fund on 8/4.

He is already a known big time donor.

Last year he donated 100M₩ for the Gangwondo Mountain Fire relief fund, and this Feburary he donated another 100M₩ to help the COVID 19 containment efforts in Daegu.

tvN released a highlight reel of the show on youtube titled 'IU x Yeo Jin Gu, moments of intimacy ♥' garnering much attention.

In the clip, the two celebrities are preparing dinner side to side.

Viewers have been eager to know where her style comes from, and it turns out she's been partnering with Korean brands not-so-well known to the public.

Seo Ye Ji is characterized by her majestic gaze and long black hair - her outfit assisting to complete this spell.

She's often seen with a top that emphasizes the shoulders while slimming down by the waist. The dresses show little skin yet give off a sensual and elegant mood.

Fashion brand 'avouavou' is behind the design of these dresses, and this black dress worn by Seo Ye Ji is now one of their best selling items.

The actor/singer Im Seul Ong was involved in a car accident. He was driving his car on the night of 8/1 when he hit a pedestrian who was illegally crossing the road. The pedestrian was killed, and Im reported to the police immediately.

The Road Traffic Safety Law states that a car crash with a jaywalking pedestrian can be resolved between the two parties without the court's involvement. That is - if the pedestrian is still alive.

When the pedestrian is dead the driver has to face criminal punishment. The driver will face up to 5 years of prison time or pay up to a 20,000,000₩ fine.

There are, however, exceptions if the court rules that the accident was 'inevitable.'

There was a precedent in April for a case in Yong-in where the court ruled the driver as innocent because the accident was deemed 'inevitable' due to the pedestrian's misconduct.
