Faith's Dark Pursuit: A Psychological Thriller Unfolding!
Netflix is set to unveil its latest thriller, 'Revelations', on March 21.

The film follows a pastor who believes it is his divine duty to punish the perpetrator of a missing persons case and a detective haunted by visions of her deceased brother. As they pursue their respective beliefs, their fates become dangerously intertwined. Revelations is based on the webtoon of the same name.
The film reunites the powerhouse duo of director Yeon Sang-ho and writer Choi Gyu-seok, who previously collaborated on 'Hellbound'—a groundbreaking dystopian series that captivated audiences with its shocking premise of divine judgment. This time, they delve even deeper into the themes of faith and conviction, meticulously constructing the unique characters before layering in the details of their story.
Director Yeon aimed to center the narrative around a protagonist who sees only what they want to see and interprets everything in a way that suits their beliefs. This led to the creation of Pastor Sung Min-chan, played by Ryu Jun-yeol, a character whose unwavering faith drives the film’s suspense.

Adding complexity to the mix, writer Choi Gyu-seok introduced two more pivotal characters: Detective Lee Yeon-hee (Shin Hyun-been), whose trauma fuels her relentless pursuit of the truth, and Kwon Yang-rae (Shin Min-jae), a former convict with his own motivations. Their clashing perspectives intertwine to form an intricate psychological thriller.
Unlike Yeon’s previous works, Revelations takes a more grounded approach. The director intentionally minimized CGI, opting instead to create an eerily realistic atmosphere by focusing on practical effects, lighting, and meticulous camera angles. This decision enhances the immersive experience, making the so-called ‘divine revelations’ feel hauntingly tangible rather than artificially constructed.

In particular, rather than relying on CGI to depict the supernatural visions witnessed by Pastor Sung Min-chan, the production team utilized set design, lighting, and precise camera movements to make the audience feel as though they are witnessing the phenomenon firsthand.
With its psychological depth and gripping storytelling, Revelations is set to deliver a thrilling experience when it premieres globally on March 21, exclusively on Netflix.
