Shocking 9kg Transformation: Star's Diet Secret!

As summer approaches, many people are struggling with weight gain after enjoying a bit too much good food during leisurely spring days. One common go-to strategy in times like these is the so-called “quick on, quick off” method—a crash approach where you try to lose weight just as fast as you gained it.

In connection with this, singer and actress Jung Eun-ji—currently starring in KBS2’s Wednesday-Thursday drama ‘Pump Up the Healthy Love’—has recently drawn attention for her dramatic transformation. Appearing on the KBS2 show ‘Troublemakers in the Attic’ on May 1, Jung revealed that she had gained a whopping 9kg (nearly 20 pounds) to play a character who appears heavier at the start of the series.

While it took her about a month and a half to gain the weight, she said it took only two weeks to shed it.

Her secret? A strict routine of cardio workouts three times a day and disciplined eating.

In the morning, she ran 3km.

In the afternoon, she cycled for an hour at the gym.

In the evening, she ran another 3 to 5km.

But is this “no food after 6 PM” rule really effective?

According to experts, skipping dinner or fasting after 6 PM can be considered a form of intermittent fasting. By extending the fasting window overnight, the body’s insulin levels drop and fat-burning can be promoted. Since physical activity tends to be minimal in the evening, calories consumed during this time are more likely to be stored as fat.

However, cutting off food completely after 6 PM isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution. Experts warn that excessively long fasting periods can lead to binge eating during the next meal or slow down your metabolism, increasing the risk of rebound weight gain.

Instead of rigidly avoiding food after a certain hour, it’s more sustainable—and healthier—to manage your overall calorie intake, ensure balanced nutrition, and maintain regular exercise.

Losing weight in a short period of time, like Jung Eun-ji did, requires serious self-discipline and planning. Above all, it’s important to find a diet method that works for your body—without compromising your health.
