Smash-Hit K-Drama Confirms New Season — With Top Star Already On Board!

The beloved TVING original series Yumi’s Cells is officially returning for a third season.

On May 13, TVING announced that Yumi’s Cells 3 will premiere in the first half of 2025. The upcoming season continues the heartfelt and relatable story of Yumi (played by Kim Go-eun), now a successful star writer, and the adorable inner cells who still live and breathe for her — all told through a unique blend of romance, growth, and emotion.

Based on the hit Naver webtoon of the same name, Yumi’s Cells became an instant fan favorite from its very first season. The series drew praise for its original concept — turning everyday emotions into animated “cells” — and its seamless mix of 3D animation and live-action storytelling. Season 1 captivated viewers with its imaginative take on love and life, sparking intense emotional investment.

Season 2 maintained its popularity, consistently ranking No.1 in subscriber contribution metrics during its release period on TVING. It was also released in over 160 countries and entered the top 5 in the “Americas/Europe” category just one week after its premiere, earning an impressive rating of 9.7 out of 10 (as of June 23).

Season 3 reunites the original creative team, including director Lee Sang-yeob and writers Song Jae-jung and Kim Kyung-ran. Kim Go-eun, who charmed audiences with her portrayal of Yumi in the first two seasons, is also returning.

“It’s an honor and a joy to continue Yumi’s journey, a character that so many viewers have loved,” Kim said. “As an actress, portraying one character over a long period is a meaningful and rare experience.”

She added, “I hope Season 3 captures the key turning points in Yumi’s personal growth. Since this journey began with Yumi back in 2021, I want to wrap it up well and meaningfully.”

Yumi’s Cells 3, a TVING original series, will officially premiere in the first half of 2025.
