K-pop's Father: A Legacy Unveiled in Hollywood!
SM Entertainment artists — both current and former — reunited in an unexpected but meaningful way at the Hollywood premiere and after-party of the documentary Lee Soo Man: King of K-Pop.

On May 12 (local time), the premiere was held at NeueHouse Hollywood in California, celebrating the legacy of Lee Soo Man, the visionary producer behind the rise of K-pop. The documentary, produced by A2O Entertainment, explores Lee’s career, musical influence, and cultural impact. Though he is no longer affiliated with SM Entertainment, the attendance of longtime SM artists showed enduring respect and loyalty.

Over 300 guests from the Hollywood music and film industries, including producers, actors, musicians, MCs, models, and influencers, filled the venue. Among them were world-renowned producers and songwriters such as Dem Jointz, Ferris, Stereotypes, and Tone Stith, who have worked closely with Lee Soo Man over the years.
Super Junior’s Choi Siwon and SHINee’s Taemin drew attention as they walked the red carpet hand-in-hand with Lee Soo Man, showing their deep bond. Girls’ Generation’s Tiffany, Hyoyeon, and Sunny, along with A2O MAY, the multinational girl group recently produced by Lee, also graced the red carpet. Sunny — Lee Soo Man’s niece — affectionately linked arms with her uncle during photos, making for a heartwarming scene.
Lee Soo Man didn’t forget to express his gratitude during the event. Calling out the names of the artists in attendance, he said, “I’m thankful not just to my students, but to the artists who are more like family. Without their talent, without their choice to work with me, none of this would have been possible.” He also extended special thanks to longtime producers Kenzie and Yoo Young-jin, saying, “Thank you for standing by me and creating the music I dreamed of all these years.”
The documentary Lee Soo Man: King of K-Pop will be available on Amazon Prime, and chronicles Lee’s pioneering role in creating the K-pop genre and leading it onto the global stage. He is also currently making waves as the producer of A2O MAY, a new multinational girl group.
