'The Vocalist Who Even Surprised IU' K-Pop Star to Marry Younger Producer This July

Kim Boa (38), a former member of the K-pop girl group SPICA, is getting married this summer.

According to a May 14 report by Sports Donga, Kim will walk down the aisle on July 19 at a wedding hall in Nonhyeon-dong, Seoul. Her groom-to-be is reportedly a music producer, four years younger than her.

News of the couple’s wedding has slowly spread as they began sharing invitations with close friends and acquaintances. In their wedding invitation, the couple wrote, “It didn’t take long for us to realize we could complete each other’s missing pieces. That moment everyone talks about — when you know it’s ‘the one’ — it finally came to us, and we’re just grateful.”

She added, “As we take this first step to become one, we would be so happy if you could celebrate and support us.”

Kim Boa debuted in 2013 as the main vocalist of SPICA, where she gained recognition for her powerful vocals. After the group disbanded in 2017, she formed the duo with fellow SPICA member Kim Bohyung.

Beyond her own releases, Kim has contributed her vocals as a guide and background singer on numerous popular K-pop tracks, including MOMOLAND’s “BBoom BBoom” and Chungha’s “Gotta Go”.

Interestingly, Kim was once mentioned by singer-actress IU as someone she found intimidating during her trainee days. In an episode of MBC FM4U’s “2 O’Clock Date with Park Kyung-rim” aired on October 16, 2013, IU said, “I trained with Kim Boa unnie, and she was just insanely good at singing. I remember thinking, ‘What am I even supposed to do next to her?’”
