She Danced with Girls’ Generation, Now She Fights in John Wick’s Universe — New Details Revealed

Sooyoung, member of K-pop group Girls’ Generation and an established actress in her own right, is making her Hollywood debut in Ballerina, an upcoming action blockbuster set in the John Wick universe.

According to distributor Pancinema, Ballerina will hit theaters in North America this June, followed by a Korean release in August. Alongside the announcement, the studio unveiled striking new character posters featuring both the lead character Eve Makaro and the legendary assassin John Wick.

Ballerina follows Eve (played by Ana de Armas), a trained killer raised by the infamous assassin-making syndicate Ruska Roma. Fueled by vengeance after her father’s murder, she embarks on a blood-soaked mission, taking on both John Wick (Keanu Reeves) and a mysterious army of elite assassins. The film bridges the timeline between John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and John Wick: Chapter 4.

Sooyoung, credited as Katla Park, shared her own character poster via Instagram earlier this year. While her exact role remains under wraps, fans are already buzzing about her bold transformation and high-stakes performance in the film. In Korea, she’s currently starring in tvN’s Monday–Tuesday drama Second Shot at Love, where her nuanced acting has earned widespread praise.

Her leap into Hollywood—especially into such a globally beloved franchise—is drawing immense excitement from fans around the world, who are eager to see what kind of energy she brings to the action-heavy series.

The newly released character posters spotlight the film’s dark, stylish tone.
