The Webtoon With 65 Million Views Just Became a K-Drama And It’s About to Shake Up Everything

Korea's OTT platform WAVVE is about to unleash a high school action legend.

On May 21, WAVVE announced the upcoming release of its new original drama 'ONE: High School Heroes', based on the massively popular Kakao Webtoon ‘ONE’, which has racked up over 65 million views. The series will premiere exclusively on WAVVE on May 30.

From Honor Student to Masked Hero

‘ONE: High School Heroes’ follows the story of Ui-gyeom (played by Lee Jung-ha), a top student living under his authoritarian father’s shadow, and Yoon-gi (played by Kim Do-wan), who sees through Ui-gyeom’s hidden fighting potential. Together, they form the masked vigilante group High School Heroes, aiming to shatter the brutal school violence hierarchy and unleash their long-suppressed rage.

The newly released main trailer teases just that. Viewers watch as seemingly model student Ui-gyeom awakens his inner fighter, challenged and manipulated by Yoon-gi to confront rising bullies one by one.

A War Against Violence

One of the most gripping scenes shows Ui-gyeom’s father flicking his forehead with domineering cruelty — a stark contrast to the explosive rage that later erupts from Ui-gyeom. Meanwhile, Yoon-gi plays the dark strategist, orchestrating fights from the shadows and drawing out Ui-gyeom’s dormant aggression.

The trailer ends with a chilling line: “If you can’t escape it, break it.”

What follows is a barrage of high-impact fight scenes as Ui-gyeom and Yoon-gi take down violent students and rise as the school's masked enforcers.

⚡ New Faces, Fierce Presence

Adding to the intrigue are two key characters. Lee Geol-jae (played by Yook Jun-seo), a mysterious transfer student and Choi Ki-soo (played by Yoo Hee-je), the undefeated top fighter on campus.

Both captivate with intense gazes and electrifying action sequences, promising to heighten the show’s tension and energy.
