SHINee Returns for Their 17th Anniversary—with the Late Jonghyun, and Fans Are in Tears

SHINee is making a deeply meaningful return to mark their 17th debut anniversary—this time, with a special tribute to their late member Jonghyun. The group has announced a new single that will feature a song written and composed by Jonghyun himself, creating a poignant moment for fans worldwide.

On May 25, SHINee will release their new digital single ‘Poet | Artist’ across major music platforms. The release includes two tracks: the title song ‘Poet | Artist’ and the B-side ‘Starlight’. The single not only celebrates SHINee’s 17-year journey in K-pop but also honors the enduring legacy of Jonghyun, who tragically passed away in December 2017.

The title track ‘Poet | Artist’ is an electro-pop number featuring vocal riffs layered with snappy snares and reggae rhythms, delivering a unique blend of texture and energy. What makes the song especially significant is that Jonghyun wrote and composed it himself—as a heartfelt message to SHINee and their fans.

The second track ‘Starlight’ is a medium-tempo dance-pop song combining funky electric guitar riffs with bright synth pads, creating a breezy and uplifting vibe perfect for early summer.

SHINee is also set to unveil both songs live for the first time during their upcoming solo concert ‘SHINee WORLD Ⅶ [E.S.S.A.Y] (Every Stage Shines Around You)’, which will be held from May 23 to 25 at KSPO Dome in Olympic Park, Seoul.

All tracks from the new single will be released digitally at midnight KST on May 25, and the physical album will follow on May 26.
