KBS, JTBC reports Simulation Models provided by Greenpeace
“We must reach 0 emission by 2050”
KBS and JTBC reported a shocking image on the 13th.
According to a simulation provided by Greenpeace, a typhoon that hits the Korean peninsula in 2030 will flood major coastal cities like Busan and Incheon.
The simulation is generated according to an article published by Nature Communications about the rising sea-level and coastal flooding.

The simulation shows that Incheon Airport will be flooded, as well as the Parliament building in Seoul. Hae Woon Dae and a majority of Busan will be flooded, while the west coast of the peninsula will be hit the most severely. It's been estimated that over 3.3 Million people will be displaced due to the catastrophe.
As the Monsoon season continues over 50 days, Korean people are beginning to feel the effects of climate change "to the skin."
Experts are urging for a plan to reduce emission rate to 0 by 2050.

지난 13일 JTBC, KBS는 환경단체 그린피스가 연구기관에 의뢰한 시뮬레이션 결과에 대해 보도했다. 그 결과는 다소 충격적이었다.
매체들에 따르면 그린피스 측은 지난해 10월 '네이처 커뮤니케이션즈'에 실린 전 세계 해수면 상승과 그리 인해 발생할 침수 취약성에 관한 논문을 바탕으로 시뮬레이션 영상을 만들었다. 2030년 기준 강력한 태풍이 온다는 것과 온실가스 배출이 현 추세대로 증가해 해수면이 상승하는 것을 가정했다.
해당 가정을 전제로 시뮬레이션을 돌려보니, 해운대는 물론이고 부산 일대가 침수되는 상황이 발생했다. 그뿐만 아니라 인천국제공항, 여의도 국회의사당 등이 모두 물에 잠겼다.
이와 같은 상황을 막기 위해 전문가는 지금 당장 큰 비용이 들지라도 탄소 배출을 0으로 만드는 목표를 반드시 수립해야 한다고 조언했다.
