The New Drama Set to Compete with When the Stars Gossip, a 500 Billion Won Production
Channel A's new Saturday-Sunday drama Check-in Hanyang has become the center of attention after its broadcast time was changed. Set to premiere on the 21st, Check-in Hanyang was originally scheduled to air at 7:50 PM but has been moved to 9:10 PM. As a result, it will now go head-to-head with tvN's currently airing drama Love is a One-Way Bridge and the highly anticipated follow-up When the Stars Gossip, which will begin airing on January 4. Particularly noteworthy is When the Stars Gossip, a sci-fi epic starring Lee Min-ho and Gong Hyo-jin, with a production budget of 500 billion won, drawing significant attention. The competition between these two new dramas is generating a lot of buzz.

Check-in Hanyang is a youthful romance historical drama set in the largest entertainment house of the Joseon era, Yongcheollu. The character posters released on the 12th were created with a "welcome kit" concept, drawing attention. The charm of the four main characters, the "Hao Na Quartet," was revealed alongside the guestroom plaques.
Bae In-hyuk plays the role of Lee Eun, also known as Muyeong-gun, a prince who conceals his identity and infiltrates Yongcheollu. The plaque on his room reads, "Impudent! I told you not to act recklessly," highlighting his character's nature. He is set to get tangled with Hong Deok-su and unravel the secrets of Cheon Bang-ju (played by Kim Ui-sung), leading him into unpredictable situations.
Kim Ji-eun portrays Hong Deok-su, a woman disguised as a man who enters Yongcheollu to uncover the secret behind her father's death. Her plaque reads, "Manly Hong Deok-su, my goal is Yongcheollu," reflecting her determination.

Jeong Geon-ju, who plays Cheon Jun-hwa, the only heir of Yongcheollu, will portray a character who realizes true camaraderie, as reflected in the line, "Let’s sail together through the storm." His character starts off as a carefree person but grows to understand the value of loyalty and teamwork.
Park Jae-chan plays Go Soo, a principled individual who dreams of rebuilding his fallen family. The line on his guestroom plaque, "Hao Na, that is not right!" reflects his strong sense of conviction and belief.

Upon hearing the news of Check-in Hanyang's first broadcast, netizens commented, "It definitely has the vibe of Sungkyunkwan Scandal, so as a fan of youth historical dramas, I'm really looking forward to it. I also love the casting of the four main characters," "Is this the 2024 version of Sungkyunkwan Scandal?" "I’m really excited. The visuals are perfectly in sync," and "I’m all for the Hao Na Quartet getting together!!!" expressing their excitement and high expectations.

The production team stated, "Please look forward to the exciting story that will unfold as the four characters, each with their own background and goals, come together against the backdrop of the largest merchant house in Joseon."
