KBS Music Bank Denies Banning Xiumin Over SM Ties… MC Mong Alleges, “I Have Recordings”

Xiumin’s agency has alleged that the EXO member was blocked from appearing on KBS 2TV’s Music Bank for reasons they deem "unconvincing." In response, KBS has denied the claims, stating that discussions with his label are ongoing.

On March 4, One Hundred Label released an official statement on behalf of its subsidiary INB100, where Xiumin is signed. The agency claimed that despite multiple attempts to arrange Xiumin’s appearance on music shows, KBS remained unresponsive.

"Since Xiumin is making a long-awaited solo comeback, our team made every effort to secure a stage for him through discussions with broadcasters. However, KBS continuously ignored our contact," the statement read.

The agency further alleged that KBS had informally communicated that Xiumin would not be allowed to appear on Music Bank if SM Entertainment artists were performing on the same episode.

Expressing frustration, the label added, "This reasoning is unacceptable. We urged KBS to prioritize artists and fans above corporate affiliations, yet they refused to engage in discussions. We believe this is an abuse of public broadcasting, restricting an artist’s platform due to behind-the-scenes industry dynamics."

The agency warned that if this issue persisted, it could set a dangerous precedent where “our artists would be unable to promote their music on broadcasts whenever SM artists are actively promoting.”

One Hundred Label emphasized that it had exhausted all efforts to resolve the matter amicably, saying, “We regret having to share this unfortunate news with fans, but we remain committed to fighting against unfair industry practices. Even though Xiumin’s Music Bank appearance is now impossible, we promise to explore alternative ways to deliver special performances and meaningful memories for fans.”

However, KBS quickly dismissed the claims. Speaking to News1 on March 4, a KBS representative stated, "This is completely untrue. Our production team has been in continuous communication with Xiumin’s agency."

MC Mong has stirred controversy by publicly calling out SM Entertainment, leading to speculation that his remarks are linked to EXO’s Xiumin being allegedly blocked from appearing on Music Bank.

On March 5, MC Mong took to social media, sharing a screenshot of a dictionary search for "슴" (a common abbreviation for SM Entertainment) with a caption that read, “Your name suits you well. Do you remember coming to my house to apologize?”

He went on to say, “You’re all trapped on your little island, engaging in nothing but savage and violent acts. As an adult, aren’t you ashamed?” He also hinted at having concrete proof, stating, “I’m debating whether to release the recordings I have.”

Tensions Over Xiumin’s Music Bank Appearance

MC Mong’s remarks come amid claims from One Hundred Label that Xiumin, now under INB100 (a subsidiary of One Hundred), was unable to secure an appearance on Music Bank.

On March 4, One Hundred Label issued a statement alleging that despite multiple attempts to arrange a performance slot for Xiumin, KBS remained unresponsive. The label further claimed that KBS informally conveyed that Xiumin could not appear on the show alongside SM artists.

However, KBS denied these allegations, telling News1, “This is completely untrue. We have been in ongoing communication with Xiumin’s agency.”

SM Entertainment Remains Silent

Xiumin, along with fellow EXO members Baekhyun and Chen, left SM Entertainment in January 2023 to join INB100. The latest dispute suggests that tensions between the two companies remain unresolved.

Despite the ongoing dispute, INB100 reassured fans that they would continue advocating for fair treatment in the industry while ensuring Xiumin’s comeback is celebrated through other means.

As of now, SM Entertainment has yet to respond to MC Mong’s accusations or One Hundred Label’s claims.
