On April 1, the production team officially announced that the movie will premiere on May 7 (Wednesday), unveiling its first poster and teaser trailer.

‘Virus’ tells the story of ‘Taek-seon’ (played by Bae Doona), who becomes infected with a mysterious and deadly virus with a 100% fatality rate — one that causes its victims to fall in love without reason. The film follows her unexpected journey alongside three very different men: ‘Soo-pil’, a loveless researcher; ‘Yeon-woo’, an old classmate; and ‘Lee Gyun’, the only expert capable of developing a cure.

What truly elevates the buzz around ‘Virus’ is its stellar cast. Bae Doona, known for her unmatched screen presence, is joined by Kim Yoon-seok, one of Korea’s most respected actors; Jang Kiha, a multi-talented performer; and Son Suk-ku, who makes a special appearance — further heightening anticipation.

The newly released poster features the four main characters tagged with a warning: “Toxo Virus.” Bae Doona’s character ‘Taek-seon’ appears in a pink hazmat suit, her flushed face seen through heart-shaped steam. The tagline reads, “Increased heart rate, boosted confidence, dopamine explosion,” hinting at the bizarre and love-struck symptoms of the infection.

The film also introduces ‘Soo-pil’ (Son Suk-ku), a socially awkward researcher who meets Taek-seon on a blind date; ‘Yeon-woo’ (Jang Kiha), her childhood friend and a car dealer; and ‘Lee Gyun’ (Kim Yoon-seok), the only man capable of creating a cure for the virus. Their tangled relationships with Taek-seon raise curiosity, while clever visual details — heart-shaped mirrors, headlights, monitors — hint at the infected character’s love-drenched perspective of the world.

The teaser trailer shows Taek-seon as a gloomy, disenchanted translator whose love cells are long gone — until one day, she suddenly finds herself giggling and giddy for no reason.

Soon, the men in her orbit begin to take notice: Yeon-woo quickly senses something has changed, Lee Gyun goes searching for her, and Soo-pil comes on strong. When Lee Gyun finally tracks her down, he explains that Taek-seon’s emotional shift is due to the “Toxo Virus” — an infection that causes instant infatuation the moment you’re exposed.

As the trailer hints at the bond between Taek-seon, who carries a “super antibody,” and Lee Gyun, the only man who can possibly cure the virus, it leaves viewers intrigued about their upcoming journey — one filled with bizarre science, emotional chaos, and perhaps… healing love?

‘Virus’ is set to hit theaters across Korea on May 7.
