HyunA opened up on MBC’s radio show about her latest intense workout routine, how she gained 8kg for health, and why she’s dieting again.
Singer HyunA has kicked off a new fitness regimen, revealing her latest focus on dieting and endurance training.
On the May 7 episode of MBC FM4U’s “Noon Song of Hope with Kim Shin-young”, HyunA appeared as a guest and candidly shared updates about her health and routine.

Host Kim Shin-young, who has long expressed concern over HyunA’s weight, remarked, “I always worried because you were so thin—like ‘bone-thin.’ But lately, you’ve put on some weight, and it looks great.”
HyunA laughed and said, “You always told me, ‘Eat more,’ ‘Stay healthy.’ I’ve been working out really hard.” However, she surprised Kim by confessing, “I’ve actually just started dieting again.”
When asked why, HyunA explained: “I felt a bit heavy when dancing. To perform with clean, beautiful lines, I realized I needed to drop some weight.” She revealed she now works out with a trainer for an hour and then walks for up to 6 hours daily, adding, “It’s a bit extreme.”
Kim expressed concern, saying, “You’ll get plantar fasciitis at this rate!” HyunA responded lightheartedly, “Luckily, there are good running shoes these days.” She noted that lower-body workouts are more difficult than upper-body ones, and revealed: “I try to eat before working out, but lately I’ve been going on an empty stomach. Sometimes I’ll just have two egg whites.”
Despite her commitment, Kim Shin-young gently reminded her, “You should still eat more. I just want you to be healthy.” HyunA had previously shared that she intentionally gained 8kg for health reasons, and in a past post revealed her weight at 46.6kg as she began her fitness journey.
Meanwhile, on April 30, the K-pop icon unveiled her latest single ‘못 (Mrs. Nail)’ along with a moody, evocative music video that signals a new chapter in both her personal and artistic journey. This marks her first musical release since going on a hiatus and since confirming her marriage to fellow artist Yong Junhyung, who she officially tied the knot with on October 11, 2023.
A Metaphor-Heavy Comeback
The track’s title, 못, holds a double meaning in Korean—translating to both "nail" and "cannot"—and the symbolism runs deep. In the ‘Mrs. Nail’ MV, HyunA is seen in a dreamlike space, her movements both restrained and vulnerable. With visuals filled with shattered mirrors, locked rooms, and close-up shots of nails, the video paints a portrait of emotional tension and inner strength.
Her lyrics hint at the weight of societal expectations, personal identity, and the dualities of love and pressure. Fans and critics alike have interpreted it as a reflection on womanhood, partnership, and the often suffocating scrutiny placed on female celebrities, especially after marriage.
With ‘Mrs. Nail’, HyunA isn’t just returning to music—she’s reclaiming her narrative. It’s a comeback that speaks volumes in whispers, one that challenges the expectations of what a K-pop star, a wife, and a woman is supposed to be. It's not just a song—it's a statement.
