IU and Cha Eun-woo Did What Together…? Major Announcement Drops Today (May 12)

Singer and actress IU is returning to her roots as a singer—with a special appearance from none other than Cha Eun-woo of ASTRO and K-drama fame.

On May 12, IU’s agency EDAM Entertainment announced, “IU is preparing for a comeback with a new album set for release this May,” adding, “Cha Eun-woo will make a special cameo appearance in the upcoming music video.”

This new release marks IU’s first album in approximately 1 year and 3 months, following her sixth mini album The Winning in February 2023.

IU and Cha Eun-woo previously worked together in a jewelry brand campaign earlier this year, wowing fans with their visuals. Now, fans are eager to see what kind of chemistry the two stars will display in the new music video.

IU debuted in 2008 at the age of 15 with the song A Lost Child. She went on to release a string of major hits like Good Day, You & I, Through the Night, and Blueming, earning her status as South Korea’s leading female solo artist with a unique voice and emotional depth.

Known for her exceptional songwriting and composing skills, IU is praised as an artist who balances musical depth with mass appeal. Each of her albums is recognized for its rich messages and experimental sound, earning strong support from both fans and critics.

IU has also established a solid career as an actress. Since her 2011 acting debut in Dream High, she has earned acclaim for her performances in The Producers, Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, My Mister, and Hotel Del Luna.

Most recently, IU starred in Netflix’s When Life Gives You Tangerines (폭싹 속았수다), where she showcased her range by playing dual roles: Ae-sun and Ae-sun’s daughter Geum-myung. The global Netflix series was honored as a critically acclaimed drama at the 2025 Baeksang Awards. Her next acting project is the upcoming MBC drama Wife of a 21st Century Prince, where she’ll star opposite Byeon Woo-seok. The series is currently in production with plans to air in early 2025.
