From soldier to superstar, Lee Do-hyun is back—and all eyes are on his next big move, both on screen and in his high-profile romance with actress Lim Ji-yeon.

Actor Lee Do-hyun (30) has officially completed his mandatory military service, stepping out of uniform on May 13 after nearly two years of duty in the Air Force military band. With his return, fans are buzzing about two things: his next career move—and the next chapter of his relationship with actress Lim Ji-yeon.

A Steady Career, Even in Uniform

Lee enlisted in August 2023, and despite fans’ initial disappointment, he remained remarkably present throughout his military service. Thanks to his pre-filmed projects, his so-called “military hiatus” hardly felt like one. During this time, four of his works were released, most notably the box office hit Exhuma (Pamyo) and the Sweet Home series.

His performance in Exhuma earned him Best New Actor in Film at the 60th Baeksang Arts Awards in 2024. Though attending the ceremony while on military leave, he left a lasting impression with his heartfelt acceptance speech:

"I’ll keep pushing forward so that when the Baeksang Awards turn 70, I’ll be there as a nominee for Best Actor… For now, I’ll do my best as a soldier and return as Lee Do-hyun next May. Thank you, Ji-yeon."

The public mention of Lim Ji-yeon caused a stir, giving fans a rare glimpse into their private bond.

Romance That Withstood the Distance

Lee and Lim first met while filming Netflix’s The Glory in 2022. Their on-screen chemistry blossomed into a real-life romance, which they confirmed on April 1, 2023, after dating rumors surfaced. Since then, they’ve embraced their public relationship—attending events, enjoying dates openly, and cheering each other on.

Lim, who was born in June 1990, is five years older than Lee. During his service, she became a classic “gomshin”—a slang term for women waiting for their boyfriends to complete military duty. With Lee’s discharge, the couple is finally free to enjoy more quality time together.

Anticipation Builds for His Next Move

Now that he's officially a “military-completed” actor, attention is turning to what Lee Do-hyun will do next. Having built a solid filmography in his 20s—from Prison Playbook to 18 Again, Hotel Del Luna, Youth of May, and The Good Bad Mother—Lee returns with both popularity and credibility firmly intact.

He is reportedly reviewing several casting offers, with strong rumors pointing to a reunion with the famed Hong Sisters, writers of Hotel Del Luna. Even more exciting? A potential reunion with Go Min-si, his co-star in both Youth of May and Sweet Home, which could create another wave of fan anticipation.

Lee Do-hyun’s “second act” promises to be as compelling as his rise. Whether it’s on screen or in love, all eyes are on what this beloved actor will do next.
