“Singing Jin” is back—with a heartfelt message and hope that fans will feel the same emotional rush.

BTS’s Jin is set to release his second mini album Echo on May 16 at 1 PM KST, simultaneously worldwide. The album captures the emotional reverberations of life’s many moments under the theme of “echo.”

While his previous album Happy focused on spreading joy, Echo digs deeper—offering sincere, relatable reflections on love, friendship, personal choices, and everyday experiences. Jin expresses these universal emotions in his own voice across seven tracks.

Title Track: ‘Don’t Say You Love Me’

The title track, Don’t Say You Love Me, tells the story of a crumbling relationship in which both people hesitate to let go due to lingering love. Despite the emotionally complex theme, the song features a soft, subtle melody that highlights Jin’s delicate vocals. The contrast between message and mood creates a lasting emotional impression.

Starring actress Shin Se-kyung, the Don't Say You Love Me music video brings Jin’s emotional lyrics to life through a delicate and cinematic portrayal of a fading relationship. Her presence adds depth and nuance to the bittersweet narrative, making each scene feel intimate and raw.

Although Jin has always maintained a private stance on his personal life and has never been involved in any confirmed dating or relationship scandals, it's worth noting that the global superstar is now in his thirties. Given his discretion and the intense scrutiny idols face, it's entirely possible that any past relationships were kept carefully out of the public eye.

Jin’s Reflections Ahead of the Release

Jin will host a comeback live broadcast titled Jin 'Echo' Comeback Live: Play Time on Weverse at 5 PM KST, just hours after the album drops. Ahead of the live session, he shared a Q&A through his agency BigHit Music.

On releasing a second mini album just six months after his last:

“I’ve been on variety shows lately, but as a singer, I really wanted to get back on stage and share my music. I’ll admit I wanted some rest too, but I kept going. (laughs) I’m happy to show ‘singing Jin’ again with Echo.”

On the album’s composition and title track choice:

“I didn’t limit the genre—I chose songs that would be fun to perform. If I’m having fun, the audience will too. For the title track, I wanted something easy to listen to. Even though Don’t Say You Love Me is slower than the other tracks, I was confident it would be the most comfortable to hear.”

On songwriting inspiration:

“I usually write based on the vibe a song gives me. For A Journey with Clouds, I watched a lot of animated films. For Nothing Without Your Love, I imagined myself performing it on stage. That track made me tear up often. I even had trouble singing at times because of the overwhelming emotion.”

On acting alongside actress Shin Se-kyung in the MV:

“It was my first time acting with a professional actress, so I was really awkward. I got nervous and couldn’t do things the way I imagined. I’m so thankful to Shin Se-kyung for her amazing performance. If you look closely, you might catch me looking awkward. (laughs)”

A Moment of ‘Echo’ from Coldplay

“When I joined Coldplay as a guest at their concert in April, the crowd’s massive singalong hit me hard. That echo stayed with me. I hope I get a chance like that one day.”

On reuniting with Coldplay:

“I wanted to perform with them again when I heard they were coming to Korea—and they made it happen. That’s the kind of connection we have. (laughs) They even carried around the ‘Wootteo’ doll I gave them throughout their tour. It’s been through a lot—rain, travel—so I gave them a new one.”

Why He’s Embracing Variety Shows

“I want to show my face to fans more often. I tried to hide my charm, but variety shows exposed everything. (laughs)” Jin has been actively involved in many variety shows, including Netflix show Kian's Bizarre B&B, tvN's Handsome Guys, as well as various YouTube channels.

To ARMY Around the World

“I love music that gives me chills. I hope my album gives listeners that same feeling. And if they imagine what it would feel like live on stage, that would make me even happier.”

“To my ARMY—I'll be coming to see you soon. Just wait a little longer. I love you!”
