Just a month ahead of his military discharge, BTS’s V was spotted dining with IU—on what fans believe was her birthday.

Photos and eyewitness accounts of BTS’s V and singer-actress IU dining together have sparked a buzz online—especially with V’s military discharge just weeks away.

On May 15, social media and online communities lit up after a photo surfaced showing BTS’s V and IU dining at the same restaurant. The image, reportedly taken by a passerby, shows V dressed in relaxed black attire, seated across from a woman wearing a cap pulled low—believed to be IU.

The restaurant in question is "Mosu," operated by renowned chef and Netflix's Culinary Class Wars Judge Ahn Sung-jae, famously nicknamed the “black-and-white chef.” While IU’s face is not clearly visible in the photo, her distinctive pink shirt and hat matched those she’s worn in recent public appearances, further fueling speculation.

V and IU’s Longstanding Friendship

V and IU have maintained a close professional relationship over the years. In January 2023, V appeared in IU’s Love Wins All music video, playing her romantic counterpart in an emotional narrative. Just two months later, IU made a guest appearance in a reaction video for V’s solo track Friends, continuing their on-screen chemistry. While many have speculated whether their relationship remained romantic or platonic, IU's public relationship with Lee Jong-suk further proves that V and IU simply have a sibling-like bond.

Even during his military service, V supported IU—he and fellow BTS member J-Hope attended her concert in September 2023, drawing attention for their loyalty and friendship.

IU The Giver

On her birthday (May 16), IU reportedly made another impressive donation of 200 million KRW (approx. $147,000), bringing her total donations this year alone to over 500 million KRW—solidifying her status as one of Korea’s most generous artists. IU’s agency, EDAM Entertainment announced, “To celebrate her birthday, IU donated a total of 200 million KRW under the name ‘IUAENA’.”

What’s Next for Both Stars

IU is currently preparing to release 꽃갈피 셋 (A Flower Bookmark 3), her first remake album in eight years, dropping on May 27. She is also set to begin filming her next K-drama project with Byeon Woo-seok, Wife of a 21st Century Prince (working title).

Meanwhile, V is just weeks away from completing his military service, with his discharge scheduled for June 10, while fellow BTS members like Jin and J-Hope are actively promoting their solo albums and tours.
