‘Yumi’s Cells’ returns with Season 3, featuring Kim Go-eun and rising star Kim Jae-won in lead roles. Set once again in the whimsical world of the “cell village,” the new season will unfold another chapter in Yumi’s emotional and creative journey.

This time, Yumi has quit her job to pursue her dream of becoming a writer—and she’s now a successful romance novelist. Her stories captivate readers, but love remains the trickiest chapter in her life. As her cell village grows quiet, a new presence—Soonrok, played by Kim Jae-won—appears, sparking a fresh breeze in Yumi’s everyday life.

Kim Jae-won, known for his compelling performance in The Tale of Lady Ok, is gaining attention for his mature, nuanced acting. His soft visuals and delicate aura are said to blend perfectly with the calm yet emotionally resonant character of Soonrok, who is expected to stir Yumi’s heart in subtle yet meaningful ways. Viewers are eager to see whether this role will elevate his popularity and public recognition.

Fan-favorite Lee Yu-bi is also set to return as the bubbly Ruby, a standout character from previous seasons. According to industry insiders, Lee Yu-bi is currently adjusting her schedule with the production team to reprise her role, adding more color and depth to the ensemble around Yumi.

Director Lee Sang-yeob, who helmed both earlier seasons, returns once again, alongside writers Song Jae-jung and Kim Kyung-ran, to continue the emotional depth and charm that define the Yumi’s Cells series. The show will also maintain its signature blend of live action and 3D animation.

In Season 1, Yumi’s emotional growth was portrayed through her relationships with Goo Woong (Ahn Bo-hyun), and in Season 2, with Yoo Babi (Park Jin-young). Season 3 focuses on Yumi, now established as a writer, and how she navigates love again—this time, through her evolving connection with Soonrok.

Once again, Kim Go-eun is set to fully embody Yumi, expanding the emotional range of the beloved character. Her on-screen chemistry with younger co-star Kim Jae-won is already generating buzz as a refreshing and heart-fluttering new pairing.
