Idol and actor Yook Sung-jae reveals a completely different side of himself on the latest episode of I Live Alone, describing his all-black home as “like a bear living in a cave.”
Yook Sung-jae of BTOB, often dubbed the “Hexagon Idol” for his all-around talent, is set to unveil his moody, blacked-out “cave house” on the upcoming episode of MBC’s Home Alone (I Live Alone), airing on the 30th.

In the episode, the idol—now in his eighth year of solo living—gives viewers a rare look into his personal lifestyle and aesthetic choices, offering a dramatic contrast to his polished on-stage persona.
Known for his versatility across singing, acting, and variety shows, Yook has long lived up to his “Hexagon Idol” nickname. His latest appearance further proves his individuality, as he throws open the doors to a space that’s entirely dark and black-toned—captivating fans with its unexpected cave-like vibe.
“Since I usually finish work late and sleep in the morning, I’ve always liked darker surroundings,” he explains. “So I thought, why not just make the whole house dark?”

True to his words, everything in the house—from the floors and sofa to the dining table, chairs, and even the fridge, trash can, and coffee machine—is custom-made in black. The only spot in the house where sunlight enters is a special area soon to be revealed in the episode.
Yook also shares his preference for warm-toned lighting over white. “Even in caves, you bring a torch, and that’s orange,” he says with a laugh, fully leaning into his identity as a self-proclaimed “black maniac.”
Viewers will also get to see his “caveman” morning routine. Yook refers to himself as “a bear living in a cave,” as he zones out in front of the TV and reaches into a small jar of mystery food, reminiscent of a bear digging for honey.
Later in the show, he unveils his ultimate soul food, teasing, “For lunch, I have to eat this.” He hints that it’s something he loves so much, he could eat it six days a week—leaving viewers curious to find out what it is.
Home Alone (I Live Alone) airs at 11:10 p.m. KST on the 30th.
Off-screen, Yook Sung-jae is currently starring in the SBS drama The Haunted Palace alongside Kim Ji-yeon. With only four episodes remaining in the 16-episode series, the show continues to draw strong ratings and maintain its competitive edge.
On top of acting, Yook Sung-jae has also been actively expanding his solo music career. He released the emotional rock-infused single “Lie” in May and is preparing for his first mini-album All About Blue, set to drop on June 19.
To celebrate the release, he will hold a solo concert titled The Blue Journey at Jangchung Arena in Seoul on June 21 and 22. He was recently confirmed as the next host of SNL Korea. As always, Yook Sung-jae proves himself to be a true “Hexagon Idol”—constantly evolving and expanding his entertainment repertoire.
