Starship Entertainment Announces Firm Legal Action against “Sojang” Harassing IVE

Starship Entertainment has disclosed the progress of their legal actions against the YouTuber 'Sojang'(탈덕수용소), who is infamous for spreading false information about South Korean Kpop artists.

On the 25th, Starship Entertainment stated through their official social media that they have been actively pursuing civil and criminal lawsuits against 'Sojang' since November 2022.

They further added, "In May 2023, we received information requests from the US District Court for the Northern District of California, and in July 2023, we obtained significant information about the operator of 'Sojang' from Google's headquarters in the US. However, around the time when the notice of information request was sent to the operator of 'Sojang' by Google, the channel suddenly became hacked, resulting in the deletion of its existing videos and the disappearance of the account itself."

The entertainment agency explained, "Sojang has continuously spread false information about our artist, IVE, causing serious damage to their reputation and interfering with our business operations. Regardless of the authenticity of 'Sojang's' apology letter, we will hold them accountable for their past illegal actions."

Furthermore, Starship Entertainment stated, "We are also currently verifying additional personal information about the operators of 'Sojang' and other 'Cyber Wrecker' through legal procedures. We aim to hold the operators, including 'Sojang,' accountable for their actions."

They emphasized, "To protect the honor, privacy, and rights of our artists, we operate a constant monitoring system. We will take legal action against cases of defamation and any further damages without compromise. We sincerely appreciate fans' continuous support and contributions through reports and information, which greatly help our legal responses. We request ongoing cooperation in providing any relevant information."

Sojang is a YouTube channel known for spreading malicious rumors about South Korean celebrities. It has been particularly criticized for producing and disseminating rumors about artists such as Aespa, Jang Wonyoung, and V. The channel has now been deleted.
