Negative reactions emerge due to his tone and behavior toward a female contestant he showed interest in
Netflix's hit dating show Single’s Inferno Season 4 is drawing heated online discussions, with much of the criticism directed at contestant Yuk Jun-seo. As episodes progress, netizens' opinions of him appear to be increasingly negative.

On December 30, an online post titled “A Dating Show Contestant Receiving More Backlash with Each Episode” surfaced on the community forum ‘TheQoo.’ The author shared edited clips of Yuk Jun-seo from Single’s Inferno on X (formerly Twitter), pointing out that his behavior was sparking widespread disapproval. “It feels like the producers were trying to create a second Dex, but excessive physical contact and moments where he seems disrespectful toward female contestants are major turn-offs,” the post claimed.
The most notable incidents involve his interactions with female contestant Lee Si-an, who had expressed interest in him. Yuk’s dismissive way of addressing her as “ya ya” (a casual and often rude way of calling someone) instead of by her name raised eyebrows. Another controversial moment occurred during a pool game, where he pressed Lee’s neck after she made a mistake and said, “Think before you play, watch carefully.”
During a playful moment when Lee Si-an was enjoying water activities, Yuk suddenly submerged himself and grabbed her hair from underwater. This act drew strong reactions online, with one X user commenting, “This is exactly the kind of situation women hate. Absolutely despise it.”
In the preview for Episodes 9 and 10, Yuk can be seen once again calling Lee “ya ya,” which ignited further criticism. One X user expressed frustration, saying, “Lee Si-an asked him to stop calling her ‘ya ya’ and to use her name instead. Why does he keep doing it? If you like someone, you should consider changing your behavior. Stop casually tapping her and calling her ‘ya ya.’ Go play with slime if you need to touch something that badly.”
Other netizens also criticized Yuk’s tone. “He seriously needs to fix the way he talks. Or at least speak kindly when they’re alone. He chose her to go to Paradise with him, yet he keeps acting cold and dismissive with the ‘ya ya’ nonsense. If I were Lee Si-an, I’d reconsider my options and pursue Theo in Inferno.”
A scene from Episodes 7 and 8, where Yuk and Lee share a bed, also came under scrutiny. While no explicit physical contact was shown, their brief dialogue hinted at possible intimate moments, leading to speculation among viewers. Even the show’s panelists reacted with shock, exclaiming, “What is going on here?” and “It looks like they hugged.”
Single’s Inferno is Netflix’s popular dating reality series where singles compete for love on a remote island known as “Inferno.” Since its debut in 2021, the show has gained immense popularity, ranking in Netflix’s global top 10 TV shows. Previous seasons have consistently sparked online buzz and fan discussions across social media platforms.
