Based on a webtoon with over 65 million views, this gritty high school action drama could be Wavve’s next breakout hit.

Wavve has just dropped the first teaser for its original 2024 K-drama ONE: High School Heroes, adapted from the wildly popular Kakao webtoon ONE by Lee Eun-jae, which boasts over 65 million views. This is the platform’s first major original K-drama of the year—and it’s already being compared to the record-breaking Weak Hero Class 1.

From Top Student to Masked Vigilante

The drama follows Ui-gyeom (played by Lee Jung-ha), a model student who transfers to a new high school only to discover a toxic hierarchy fueled by violence and bullying. With his sharp intellect and latent fighting instinct, Ui-gyeom teams up with Yoon-gi (played by Kim Do-wan) to dismantle the school's underground pecking order—by forming the masked duo “High School Heroes.”

The teaser opens with Ui-gyeom quietly adapting to his new school before realizing his own hidden strength. Yoon-gi, who spots this potential, joins forces with him, and together they begin toppling the bullies that dominate student life. A striking line from Ui-gyeom—"The problem is, there are just too many bad guys in this world"—sets the tone for the dark themes ahead.

Characters, Grit, and Mystery

The preview teases intense action scenes, eerie school corridors, and bloody confrontations. Intercut shots feature Ui-gyeom's burning gaze, Yoon-gi’s cold rationality, and Geol-jae (played by Yuk Jun-seo) as a mysterious third force with his own secrets. The pink-masked vigilante look, paired with sleek fight choreography, sets the show apart from typical school dramas, promising a rare blend of action, psychology, and antihero dynamics.

The original webtoon ONE was praised for its deep character development and raw portrayal of school violence and hierarchy. The K-drama adaptation aims to maintain this complexity, enhancing it with cinematic visuals and tightly-woven emotional arcs.
