Based on a webtoon with over 65 million views, this gritty high school action drama could be Wavve’s next breakout hit.

Wavve has just dropped the first teaser for its original 2024 K-drama ONE: High School Heroes, adapted from the wildly popular Kakao webtoon ONE by Lee Eun-jae, which boasts over 65 million views. This is the platform’s first major original K-drama of the year—and it’s already being compared to the record-breaking Weak Hero Class 1.

From Top Student to Masked Vigilante

The drama follows Ui-gyeom (played by Lee Jung-ha), a model student who transfers to a new high school only to discover a toxic hierarchy fueled by violence and bullying. With his sharp intellect and latent fighting instinct, Ui-gyeom teams up with Yoon-gi (played by Kim Do-wan) to dismantle the school's underground pecking order—by forming the masked duo “High School Heroes.”

The teaser opens with Ui-gyeom quietly adapting to his new school before realizing his own hidden strength. Yoon-gi, who spots this potential, joins forces with him, and together they begin toppling the bullies that dominate student life. A striking line from Ui-gyeom—"The problem is, there are just too many bad guys in this world"—sets the tone for the dark themes ahead.

Characters, Grit, and Mystery

The preview teases intense action scenes, eerie school corridors, and bloody confrontations. Intercut shots feature Ui-gyeom's burning gaze, Yoon-gi’s cold rationality, and Geol-jae (played by Yuk Jun-seo) as a mysterious third force with his own secrets. The pink-masked vigilante look, paired with sleek fight choreography, sets the show apart from typical school dramas, promising a rare blend of action, psychology, and antihero dynamics.

Streaming in May — A New Era for Wavve Originals

As Wavve aims to cement itself as a home for genre-breaking Korean dramas, ONE: High School Heroes signals its next bold move. With Weak Hero Class 1 as its predecessor, expectations are high. The drama’s production team promises a more grounded and emotionally charged take on youth conflict, setting it apart from conventional high school dramas.

The series will be released exclusively on Wavve later this May.

Wavve also revealed its May content slate through its “Monthly Wavve” video series, which includes a blend of original dramas, variety shows, and exclusive series.

‘Lan-line Childcare King: Flower Kids Project’ debuted on Children’s Day (May 5), featuring Hwang Kwang-hee as a first-time kindergarten teacher interacting with childcare experts from around the world.

‘No-moo-jin, the Labor Attorney’ airs May 30 on MBC. This supernatural legal comedy stars Jung Kyung-ho as a labor attorney who can see ghosts and solve bizarre workplace issues with the help of Seol In-ah, Cha Hak-yeon, Tang Joon-sang, and Yoo Seon-ho.

‘Born to Travel the World 4’ premieres May 11. Led by Kian84, this fourth season takes him and castmates Pani Bottle, Lee Si-eon, and Dex into the remote highlands of China’s Tea-Horse Road, immersing themselves in local weather, food, and daily life.

‘Teachers 2: Please Help with My Grades’ premiered May 4 on Channel A. With returning mentors Jung Seung-je, Jo Jung-sik, and MiMiMiNu, and a new Korean teacher Yoon Hye-jung, the reality show offers personalized tutoring to struggling students and families.
