On the upcoming episode of SBS’s Whenever Possible, TWICE’s Sana opens up about a surprising chapter in her trainee days when she nearly gave up on debuting.

Airing at 9 PM on May 20, the episode features TWICE members Jihyo and Sana teaming up as “Gap Friends,” bringing a flurry of good luck to the streets of Geumho-dong.

During the show, Sana shares a bittersweet and funny story from before her debut—a time when she almost didn’t become “TWICE’s Sana.” Reflecting on more than 13 years of living in Korea since starting her idol journey at the tender age of 17, she reveals, “There was a time in the early morning when I seriously thought about sneaking back home,” adding, “I even wondered how I could quietly drag my suitcase without anyone hearing the door open.” It was her own earnest, if somewhat dramatic, runaway plan.

But reality had other ideas. “My passport was at the company (JYP Entertainment), and to get it, I would’ve had to sneak into the building. It was just impossible,” she laughs. Then comes the kicker—“I was going to run away with Momo,” she confesses, admitting the plan involved her fellow member. The story recalls a hair-raising moment when TWICE nearly became a 7-member group instead of 9.

Sana, who hails from Osaka, also brings her natural variety show flair, keeping both Yoo Jae-suk and Yoo Yeon-seok on their toes. When Yoo Yeon-seok comments, “Aren’t people from Osaka known for their big reactions? I saw a clip where someone screamed just from hearing ‘bread,’” Sana replies, “I used to be like that when I was young. But in Korea, it became such a thing that I told myself, ‘I won’t be one of them,’ so I’ve stopped reacting like that,” she says firmly, leaving everyone in stitches.

Later in a game segment, Sana casually drops the word “yangnyeom gejang” (spicy marinated crab), hinting at the birth of a new meme to rival her iconic “cheese gimbap” moment. And after the first round, she blurts out, “That game really had me sweating,” using a quirky expression that cracked up even the unshakeable Yoo Jae-suk.

Will Sana’s hilarious energy bring luck to the show’s special guest? Find out on Whenever Possible, airing tonight at 9 PM KST.
