"Ahn Jae-hyun will not be joined in season 8".
On Aug. 31, 2020, the officials at 'New Journey to the West' season 8 made an announcement that Ahn Jae-hyun will not going to join the show.
The rest of crew members, Kang Ho-dong, Lee Soo-geun, Eun Ji-won, Kyuhyun, Song Min-ho, & P.O will continue to make their appearance on season 8.
Originally, the show was plan on start shooting this August but it got delayed due to the resurgence of COVID-19 in Korea.
On Jul. 29, 2020, tvN unveiled that they are in the early stage of making season 8 of 'New Journey to the West'. Ahn Jae-hyun's possible come back on the screen brought people's attention earlier.

“안재현, '신서유기 8' 합류를 두고 제작진 입장 나왔습니다”
배우 안재현이 tvN '신서유기 8'에 출연하지 않는다는 소식이 전해졌다.
31일 OSEN에 따르면 안재현은 '신서유기8'에 복귀하지 않는 거로 밝혀졌다고 전했다. 비록 안재현은 출연하지 않지만 '신서유기 7'에 출연했던 강호동, 이수근, 은지원, 구현, 송민호, 피오가 다시 한번 호흡을 맞출 예정이다.
현재 '신서유기 8'은 새 시즌 촬영을 위해서 준비하고 있으며 코로나19로 인해 당초 8월 촬영에 돌입할 예정이었으나 코로나19 여파로 인해 진행되지 않고 있다고 전했다.
지난달 29일 tvN 측이 '신서유기 8'이 기획 초기 단계라는 사실을 공개하면서 네티즌들은 '신서유기' 시리즈에서 '신미' 캐릭터로 활약한 안재현의 복귀 여부에 대해 폭발적인 반응을 보이기도 했다.
