Now, in SBS’s newest series, Spring of Youth, which premiered on May 6, Lee Seung-hyub takes on the lead role of Seo Taeyang, a medical student struggling to pursue his passion for music. From intense clashes with a father who disapproves of his band dreams to the heartbreak of one-sided love, Lee portrays the complex emotional layers of his character with striking depth and subtlety.

Seo Taeyang’s character faces mounting pressure from his father, who wants him to stay focused on his academic path. In these scenes, Lee channels inner conflict through firm expressions and a resolute tone, portraying Taeyang’s fight to hold on to his dream with conviction and vulnerability.

In a particularly poignant moment, Taeyang realizes that Sa-gye (played by Ha Yujun) and Kim Bom (Park Ji-hoo) have feelings for each other. Lee captures the character’s heartbreak with hauntingly empty eyes and a subdued, defeated expression—drawing empathy and sorrow from viewers.

Lee Seung-hyub’s portrayal has anchored the series with emotional authenticity, showing his growing strength as an actor. With a calm yet expressive delivery, he continues to bring depth to a character caught between duty and desire.

Spring of Youth airs every Wednesday at 10:40 PM KST on SBS.
