Jung Joon-won and Kang Seung-hyun Dating Again? Agencies Respond

Are actor Jung Joon-won and model-turned-actress Kang Seung-hyun more than just friends? The pair recently addressed growing speculation about their relationship.

On May 28, Alien Company, representing Jung Joon-won, stated: “They became close while working on the film Believer. They’re just friends.” Kang Seung-hyun’s agency, Kang Entertainment, echoed the sentiment, adding, “They’ve been friends for a long time,” and firmly denied any romantic involvement.

The rumors gained traction after users on major online communities and social media platforms speculated that the two stars had been dating for quite some time. Some even claimed they were dropping subtle couple hints on Instagram—what fans like to call "lovestagram" posts.

Further fueling the flames, some netizens asserted that Jung and Kang had dated in the past, broken up, and had recently rekindled their romance. However, both agencies swiftly dismissed the claims, calling them untrue and bringing the rumor mill to a temporary halt.

From Co-stars to Close Friends

Jung Joon-won made his acting debut in the 2015 film The Birdman and has since appeared in dramas like Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul-ho 2, VIP, and films such as Believer and Escape. Most recently, he played OB-GYN resident Goo Do-won in tvN’s Resident Playbook (a spin-off of Hospital Playlist), where he charmed viewers with his sweet on-screen chemistry with rising star Go Youn-jung.

Kang Seung-hyun, who first rose to fame as a model in 2007, later transitioned into acting. She has appeared in dramas like Partners for Justice 2 and The Cursed, as well as films including Believer. It was on the set of Believer in 2018 where she and Jung Joon-won first met—playing the roles of So-yeon and Deok-cheon, respectively.

While both stars insist they're nothing more than close friends, the speculation continues to stir interest among fans—especially given their long-standing connection and frequent online interactions. For now, though, it looks like the headlines may have outpaced reality.
